"At a screening on April 7, viewers were standing against the wall and sitting the aisles to see films like “The Invaders,” where theater actor Isra Elsalihie plays a young woman who is followed on her way home."
“I try to bring my personal experiences into my characters, and for her, I wanted to focus on a positive thing to go after, instead of simply reacting to fear,” Elsalihie explained. “It’s really exciting being here for the world premiere, and to see the audiences’ reaction to the film for the first time.”

FANTASIA 2018: THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT THE INVADERS…
Check out what director Mateo Marquez had to say about casting yours truly for the role!
“It was important to me to cast an actress who not only could instill the horror and fear felt by the victim, but also her humanity. Often in horror films, we forget about the gravity of death because of the genre’s nature. Isra brought a truthfulness to her character that allowed the audience a more intimate access to her.” – Mateo Marquez
"In light of the heated rhetoric of today’s politics, more stories like THE INVADERS are needed and should be required viewing by as many people as possible. It is through the lens of film and art that we get a view into parts of society we may not otherwise have exposure to." - Patrick Kruse of Morbidly Beautiful

“Elsalihie is good in the central role, conveying not just terror but the sense of despair that comes from knowing there's nowhere to run, something that clearly applies more broadly and not just to her immediate situation.” - Jennie Kermode
